Jenny Lind Island

Located within the waters of the Queen Maud Gulf, Jenny Lind Island lies 15 km southeast, across the Icebreaker Channel, from the southeastern corner of the massive Victoria Island (partly visible at top-left, in the above image). To the northeast are the Royal Geographical Society Islands and to the east and southeast Bryde Island, Borge Island and Amundsen Island.

At 420 km² in area, the island measures 27 km by 16 km. The landscape is low, comprising a flat plain with an average elevation of less than 30 m above sea level. The plain contains numerous tundra ponds, small lakes and extensive areas of swampland; the southern regions of the island, opposite Jenny Lind Bay, contains a large area of sandy terrain.
