New Poll in the Forums!

Posted by Frankie at 2/27/2007 3:50 PM PST

We just put a highly invasive and nosy poll in the Forums - asking if you bought your Xbox console just for Halo, or for some other reason. Which would be stupid, obviously. Anyway, go rock the vote in the polls HERE!

We're basically spying on you to see how much you love or don't love Halo.

Halo 2 stats are offline for quick maintenance

We're installing a brand new database server to host the Halo 2 stats database (and future stuff as well!) so please bear with us as we turn off stats for a while during this transition. It shouldn't take too long.

Halo Comic Announcement

Posted by Frankie at 2/26/2007 2:20 PM PST

Our good friends at Marvel made a couple of nifty announcements regarding the upcoming (and as-yet, untitled) Halo comic series, and although they haven't set a date yet, they did reveal that the artist and writer paired for the project are Alex Maleev and Brian Bendis, respectively.

Their work on Marvel projects including Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-Man has made them comic book legends, and Bungie is proud to be working with such a talented team. You can read (not much) more about the partnership HERE at Marvel's site. We'll bring you more news as the series develops and we look forward to sharing what's going to be an amazing extension of the Halo fiction and universe.

Give Voice to Your Charitable Spirit

Posted by Frankie at 2/19/2007 9:48 AM PST

Bungie has donated a cameo voice role to Hollywood Arts, a charity that reaches young homeless people through the arts, including video games, film, TV and more. The charity is a very practical one that teaches young people valuable skills and directly attempts to get them off the streets and into productive employment.

The cameo is for Halo 3, and the timeframe is tight, although the “wit” who wrote the eBay copy originally joked that if you don’t make the session in time, you’d have to end up in Halo 4. Note that was NOT an announcement, but rather a sad clunker of a gag. However, it’s all for a good cause, so if you’ve got pockets as deep as your voice, then head over to the eBay auction HERE and remember, we’re not running this auction, Hollywood Arts is. Through eBay. But it’s your chance for legendary status.

Lionhead StudiosSam Van Tilburgh has published an article on Lionhead's site detailing his visit to MGS and Bungie Studios. It's a great read. Unfortunately, Jerome threatened to go Van Damme on Van Tilburgh, so he only got so far as the lobby.

Even if he got past Jerome, he'd have to deal with Soulblighter.

Well folks - the winners are up - and boy let me tell you did you all make this contest interesting. We expected a high turnout but what we got was amazing...

Well, after two months, 500GB of transfer, over 700 artists, and over 1,200 submissions, we were stuck. We actually had to come up with a new way to judge the entries due to the high turnout by the Halo Nation.

In any case, our thanks goes to the folks that contributed prizes - Bungie.net, Halo.Bungie.org, SteelValor Online, Sword of Laban, and Second-Foundation.net.

You guys rock!

The Machinima Community

Posted by KPaul at 2/2/2007 6:35 PM PST

CP OVERLORD writes:

The Halo 2 Machinima community has grown to a exponentially in the past few years. And with the sudden collapse of halogrid.com, much of the community has been scattered across the net searching for a new home.

The H2 machinima community is possibly the biggest it has ever been. Well over 500 machinima clans have sprang up over the past few years. Halogrid.com, home to Hollywood Halo, was with out a doubt, the biggest of them all. But on 1-9-07, the great halogrid empire collapsed. So that left hundreds of people, in a sense, homeless. So they've all scattered around the net, looking for a place to call home.

Many have found success in the ever growing HollywoodNHouse. While other have been trying to capitialize on the frenzy and become the new HG. In my personal opinion, the communities with the best chance of having this happen are Snowglobe, Halo Union, and HollywoodNHouse.

Snowglobe has sat in the shadow of HG for nearly two years now. And with HG gone, Snowglobe was one of the places people thought to go. SG had a huge boost in activity within the last month, and continues to grow.

Halo Union is a fairly new name to the scene in the machinima world. Started only a month ago, it already has 200+ members, and a strong community basis. One of the two leaders, ukilledkenny7, has been doing nonstop advertising, and has greatly impacted its success.

HollywoodNHouse is an "All Gaming Clan". They point there community interests into many gaming genres. But they primarily focus on H2. They are known for the many great movies they've produced, as well as the community.

For those communities, this rise in popularity was a great boost. So to many of you still searching for a home, look all around you, cause they're there, and on the rise.

New Bungie Store Shirts

The Bungie Store has recently been updated with three new Tees. There're two "I <3... " shirts, a short-sleeved one for girls and a long-sleeve one for guys, and a really cool new Mongoose twofer shirt.

Yeah, I was actually really surprised that was a word, too.

Additionally, you can submit news to Bungie. All that's required is a Bungie.net account. We will review your submission and if it is worthy we'll add it to our blog.
