This tutorial will assist you in configuring your Belkin router to forward the applicable ports to your computer. Forwarding these ports on your router should allow you to receive 'Reachable' status, and full access to the network. Should you require more assistance please consult the documentation that came with your router, or its manufacturers technical support.
- Inside eDonkey, note the TCP & UDP ports shown in Options -> Network
- Visit the router's home page in your web browser by entering 192.168.2.1 in the address bar. If you have changed the address of the router, enter that address instead
- By default, leave the password field blank, and just press submit.
- Click on 'Virtual Servers' on the left hand side within the 'Firewall' section.
Numbers in the image correspond with the steps in this tutorial
- Check the enable check box in the first available row.
- In the description field enter 'eDonkey TCP'
- Enter the TCP port from eDonkey into both the Inbound Port boxes
- Ensure TCP is the selected Protocol
- Enter the last portion of your IP address into the Private IP address field (what is my IP)
- Enter the TCP port from eDonkey again, into both Private port boxes.
- Check the enable check box in the next available row.
- In the description field enter 'eDonkey UDP'
- Enter the UDP port from eDonkey into both the External Port boxes
- Ensure UDP is the selected Protocol
- Enter the last portion of your IP address into the Local Computer field (what is my IP)
- Enter the UDP port from eDonkey again, into both Private port boxes.
- Click the 'Apply Changes' box towards the top of the screen
Once the Port Redirection is set up you will either need to restart eDonkey, or enter the 'retest' command in the console for the program to check to see if it is 'Reachable' again. If you are still 'Unreachable' ensure that you have entered the ports, and your IP address correctly, and have selected the correct Protocol for both rules. Also, something else such as a Software Firewall may still need to be configured.
Multiple Computers
If you are running eDonkey on multiple computers, set each computer to use a unique set of ports. Then forward each set of ports to the correct computer.
