  Unreachable D-Link Router (DSL500)

Manufacturer: D-Link (website)
Model: DSL500 (product information page)
Router's Default Web Address: http://192.168.0.1
Default Username: admin
Default Password: admin

This tutorial will assist you in configuring your D-Link DSL500 router to forward the applicable ports to your computer. Forwarding these ports on your router should allow you to receive 'Reachable' status, and full access to the network. Should you require more assistance please consult the documentation that came with your router, or its manufacturers technical support.

  1. Inside eDonkey, note the TCP & UDP ports shown in Options -> Network
  2. Visit the router's home page in your web browser by entering 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. If you have changed the address of the router, enter that address instead
  3. Enter username: admin, password: admin to log in. If you have changed the username and password enter that information instead.
  4. Click on 'Port Redirection' on the left hand side.

Numbers in the image correspond with the steps in this tutorial
  5. Click on the 'add' button to add a port redirection rule.
  6. In the comment field enter 'eDonkey TCP'
  7. Enter the TCP port from eDonkey into both the Internet Port and the Local Port
  8. Ensure TCP is the selected Protocol
  9. Enter your IP address into the Local Computer fields. (what is my IP)
  10. Press OK.
  11. Click on the 'add' button again to add another port redirection rule
  12. In the comment field enter 'eDonkey UDP'
  13. Enter the UDP port from eDonkey into both the Internet Port and the Local Port
  14. Ensure UDP is the selected Protocol
  15. Enter your IP address into the local computer fields (what is my IP)
  16. Press OK
  17. Click on Save Changes on the left side
  18. When the 'Restart' button appears click on it to restart the router so the changes will take effect.

Once the Port Redirection is set up you will either need to restart eDonkey, or enter the 'retest' command in the console for the program to check to see if it is 'Reachable' again. If you are still 'Unreachable' ensure that you have entered the ports, and your IP address correctly, and have selected the correct Protocol for both rules. Also, something else such as a Software Firewall may still need to be configured.

Multiple Computers
If you are running eDonkey on multiple computers, set each computer to use a unique set of ports. Then forward each set of ports to the correct computer.
