Unimak

Unimak, Aleutian Islands

The largest and most easterly of the Aleutian islands, Unimak lies immediately off the sinuous southern end of the Alaska Peninsula. The island is 113 km in length, averaging 40 km in width in the north and 30 km in width in the south, with an area of 4,118 km².

The island is mountainous and volcanically active and is home to 6 of the 10 tallest peaks of the Aleutian Islands — including the Aleutian Islands highest peak: Shishaldin Volcano at 2,857 m. Other prominent mountains include the Aleutians second highest point of Isanotski Peaks (2,446 m), Pogromni Volcano (2,002 m) and Roundtop Mountain (1,871 m).
