Kapingamarangi

Located in the far southwestern corner of Pohnpei State, 302 km south from Nukuoro and 330 km northeast from the large Lyra Reef formation of Papua New Guinea, the atoll of Kapingamarangi is the southernmost feature of the Caroline Islands.

Kapingamarangi has an overall area of 74 km², measuring 12 km in length from southeast to northwest and up to 8 km across. There are around 30 islets on the eastern rim of the atoll with a combined area of 1.8 km²; the broad western rim of the atoll consists largely of submerged or part submerged reefs.
