Motutunga

Motutunga is a small atoll situated on the western side of the Tuamotu Archipelago, being a member of the Centre West Group of atolls. It is located 18 km southeast from it nearest, and far larger, neighbour of Tahanea. Measuring around 15 km across, the atoll sits atop a relatively small seamount that rises 2,970 m from the ocean floor below. Its near continuous reef rim encloses a lagoon of 126 km² in area.
