Agattu, Near Islands, Aleutian Islands

The second largest member of the Near Islands group (an island group located at the far southwestern end of the Aleutian chain), the island of Agattu lies 37 km southeast from Chirkof Point — the easternmost extremity of the neighbouring island of Attu — and 27 km southwest from the tiny island of Alaid in the Semichi Islands subgroup of the Near Islands.

Agattu measures 29 km in length and up to 14 km across, covering an area of 221 km². The tundra-like terrain of the island is generally flat to rolling; a mountainous belt of terrain on the northeast rises to height of 632 m above sea level.
