Shumagin Islands

Shumagin Islands, Aleutian Islands

The Shumagin Islands lie off the southern coasts of the Alaska Peninsula and include all the islands between the Kupreanof Peninsula in the east and the neighbouring Pavlof Islands in the west. They can be considered as the most northeasterly of the Aleutian Islands.

There are 12 main islands within the group (Andronica, Big Koniuji, Bird Island, Chernabura, Karpa, Korovin, Little Koniuji, Nagai, Popof, Simeonof, Turner and Unga) and numerous smaller islets and emergent rocks that lie off the main islands. The main island of the group is Unga.
