Amukta

Amukta, Aleutian Islands

Amukta is situated at the western end of the Islands of Four Mountains group, located 23 km west-southwest from Yunaska; to the west is the wide Amukta Pass that separates the Four Mountains group from Seguam (68 km to the southwest) and the islands of the Andreanof group. The small island of Chagulak, 5 km to the northeast across the Chagulak Pass, is Amukta's closest island neighbour.

Amukta is oval in shape, measuring 7.6 km in length (east to west), with its outline broken in the south by Traders Bay. The landscape of Amukta is dominated by the cone-shaped Mount Amukta volcano that rises to a height of 1,066 m above sea level.
