Ottilien Reef

Ottilien Reef, Papua New Guinea

Located within the south-central regions of the Bismarck Sea, Ottilien Reef is a western outlier of the Vitu Islands group. The reef lies 35 km northwest from the small island of Narage in the Vitu Islands proper and some 63 km from the Whirlwind Reefs.

The reef forms an atoll-like structure composed from four reefs (one each on the north, east, south and west) that partially enclose a deep central lagoon. The western reef is prominent and protects and a small sand cay.
