Umboi

The large island of Umboi is located within the Dampier Strait — the wide stretch of water that separates the island of New Britain from the New Guinea mainland; Long Island lies 60 km to the northwest, New Britain 24 km to the east and the New Guinea mainland 47 km to the southwest. It's immediate neighours (10-22 km) include Ritter Island, Tolokiwa and Sakar.
Umboi has a length of 49 km from southeast to northwest, with a maximum width of 27 km; a maximum elevation of 1,548 m above sea level is reached at the summit of Mount Talo.
